Where Every Story Finds a Home
At the end of a quiet cobbled lane, tucked beneath tall stone windows and climbing ivy, stands one of Leswyck Hollow's most treasured places.
The Library.
Step inside and you'll discover towering shelves filled with well-loved books, ancient maps, carefully preserved journals, and stories collected over generations. Sunlight filters through stained glass windows, dust dances lazily in the afternoon light, and the comforting scent of old books and polished wood welcomes every visitor.
This is where Marilyn and Gary can usually be found.
Marilyn is the village librarian and believes every book has a way of finding the person who needs it most. She knows every shelf by heart and somehow always seems to recommend exactly the right story at exactly the right moment.
Gary is the village historian.
If you've ever wondered how Leswyck Hollow came to be, why the old oak tree still stands in the village square, or whether the Lantern Fox truly exists, Gary will likely smile, pull a well-worn journal from the shelf, and begin with the words...
"Well now... that's an interesting question."
Together they care for more than books. They protect the history of the village. The legends of the forest. The stories of its people. And the countless little moments that might otherwise be forgotten with time.
Many visitors arrive hoping to learn about the magical creatures said to wander the woodland beyond the village. Others spend hours studying old maps, reading forgotten journals, or listening as Gary shares stories that have been passed from one generation to the next.
Whether every tale is entirely true... well... Gary usually leaves that for you to decide.
Not long ago, while sorting through a collection of old boxes in the library basement, Marilyn and Gary discovered something neither of them remembered seeing before.
It was an old, weathered book, tucked away beneath years of forgotten papers and records. Its pages were filled with careful drawings, handwritten observations and accounts of creatures that, according to the book, had once been encountered in and around Leswyck Hollow.
Written across the first page were the words The Enchanted Field Guide of Leswyck Hollow.
There was no author's name. No date. And so far, Gary hasn't found a single mention of the book anywhere else in the library's records. Naturally, this has only made him more curious.
Marilyn, meanwhile, has noticed that certain pages from the old book have recently begun making their way beyond the library. She hasn't said much more about that.
Of course, no visit to the library would be complete without meeting its two most devoted companions.
Ceasar, a gloriously rotund orange cat, has appointed himself Chief Lounger and Resident Supervisor. His daily duties include napping in sunny windows, inspecting visitors for treats, and ensuring no one disturbs the peaceful atmosphere unnecessarily.
Cleo, a tiny tortoiseshell with bright, curious eyes, quietly wanders the shelves as though she knows every secret hidden within them. If a visitor can't find the book they're looking for, some villagers jokingly insist that following Cleo is often the quickest way to discover it.
Take your time while you're here. Browse the shelves. Lose yourself among the stories. Ask questions. Read something unexpected. Because the library has a curious way of reminding us that every answer begins with curiosity... and every great adventure usually starts with turning the very first page.
📚 A Thought from Marilyn & Gary
"Stories remind us who we've been. History helps us understand how we arrived here. Together they teach us where we might go next. Never stop asking questions, and never stop wondering."
— Marilyn & Gary
